Close the Loop

There are men surrounded by half-finished things. The call they meant to return. The bill they meant to address. The repair waiting another month. The apology almost given. The form sitting in an inbox. None seems large enough to become a crisis, yet together they create a background hum of disorder.

Responsibility is often less dramatic than carrying enormous burdens. Sometimes it is simply closing loops. Doing what you said. Finishing what you started. Giving an answer instead of avoiding one. Small unfinished obligations consume attention because the mind knows they are still open.

Do not wait until everything becomes urgent. Mature men handle things while they are still small. Look around for the loose ends carrying your name. Tie one today. Then another. Order does not usually arrive through one heroic act. It arrives because someone decided unfinished things would no longer be allowed to accumulate.
