Stand Before the Light

There is courage in charging forward, but there is another courage men speak about less: the courage to be known. To admit where you failed. To confess what you have hidden. To stop managing appearances and step into the light without knowing exactly what it will cost your pride.

Shame tells a man to hide until he becomes worthy of being seen. The gospel moves in the opposite direction. We come into the light because we cannot make ourselves clean in darkness. God already knows the room you are trying to keep locked. His knowledge is not an invitation to despair; it is an invitation to stop pretending.

A man who can face truth about himself becomes difficult to control. Secrets lose leverage. Pride loses armor. Grace becomes more than a word. The ascent is not a climb made by men who never fall. It is made by men who refuse to build a home where they fell.
